I'm looking for the ECE English Comp material purchased from Excelsior. I recently failed the CLEP and can't afford to fail but really can't afford to pay $200 for the books from Excelsior.
Thanks... |

Do you need to take the English Comp. exam (6 credits), or can you do with just the College Writing exam (3 credits)? The "MY Access!" College Writing Tool offered by Excelsior seems to be geared toward the latter, and it costs $40 for a year of access, or it's free upon registration for the College Writing exam. It's supposed to use the same automated system that scores your essay for the College Writing exam.
I haven't taken either the English Comp. or College Writing exams as of yet, but just putting in my two cents. ![]()

Both, I failed English CLEP and can't afford to fail the ECE English. Failing the CLEP was such an embarrassment my kids have had a field day with the "better study harder jokes". I sent an email to CollegeBoard requesting a scoring breakdown and was sent an impersonal form letter. No answer to why I scored 78% on the CLEP Official Study Guide practice exam first attempt but scored a lowely 47 on the exam....oops I think I just crossed over the whinning.... Anyway, I need the writing credits and I just don't want to fail again. |

I'd like to agree with anar579. I took the College Writing ECE and I thought the MyAccess tool was great. It's included for a year with the price of the test, and well worth it. Sorry to hear about the CLEP, but If you're an excelsior student the CLEP wouldn't have counted for your Written English Requirement anyway..
