Would employers look more favorably on a real major if I'm not applying in the psychology field? I see what you mean about the January deadline though... better now than ever if I want the major. Maybe I should apply for the psychology major and only switch if I change my mind so that I don't lose the opportunity.

I can promise you that I was JUST as scared of Statistics as you are. DANTES Statistics IS passable, I am living proof. I didn't think I would ever be able to pass Statistics, but with study, it is doable...even for a math phobic like me.

It's only October, you could study for, and take the Statistics exam before December if you wanted to. Then you would know where you stand in time for the policy change in January.

There is nothing wrong with a BS in Liberal Studies. Please don't think that I was, in any way, looking at you sideways because of it. I just wanted to make sure you know what your other options are.

If you just need "a degree" of any kind, then Liberal Studies might well be a better option for you than going for a specific major. But, since you would have to earn 21 credits for your Psychology focus anyway, you might want to consider taking those nine additional Psychology credits and get a specified major.

You are obviously going to have to weigh up the pros and cons of each option, and then make the decision that is best for YOU.

I would support you 100% in whichever choice you make. There is no right or wrong choice really, only what is best for you.

Just don't let fear of Statistics get in the way of making your decision. As you say, you have nothing to lose by going for it, and then changing your plans later on, if need be.

    Hope that helps,

    Post Master Program

I, too, am looking forward to earning my Master's. I need to finish studying to complete the remaining 10 credits for my undergrad first and then take some time off to relocate South and then the Master's program. This is my plan......I really enjoyed earning my BS...if I could only make up my mind on my course of study...that would great....

    Thumbs up Continuing on

I am 34 years young, mother and wife of three beautiful sons and just finish my BSHS at TUI, and will be applying to VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) License Clinical Social Work Master Gerontology program. Instantcert has definitely helped me with testing out majority of my general education requirements. Although, it seems like it took forever to finish my BS, but I feel a sense of pride because this degree allows me to show my children that what ever you put your mind too or believe in anything is possible. My mother, father, nor my brother or sisters graduate from college, so I will be the first to let them know it is never to late.

    Default Change of Flight Path

Since my original post in this thread I have done a "course correction" (no pun intended, well, maybe a little) and have also applied and been accepted to the Master of Psychology program @ CCU- California Coast University.

I have to enroll by 13 November and will probably be on this Masters-Degree-Seeking-Roller-Coaster-Ride for at least 12-18 months.

If this is the case my involvement here in the IC-Forums may taper off a little but not totally extinct; I'll let you know when this new ride begins..........

So, yes, some form of post-baccalaureate education is in my future -- I just have to decide between the 36-credit certificate and the 48-credit M.A.T. The price differential is only about $20K.

Once I'm credentialed, I'd like to get my M.Ed in special education followed, possibly, by a PhD or EdD in educational leadership or a second M.Ed in Reading (Reading Specialist).

Literacy is one of my chief passions. Reading has brought me such joy and escape for so many years that I can't imagine not sharing that with others! Once I finish my B.S., I plan to put my studies on hold for a year to volunteer. I'm investigating a couple of local literacy-minded opportunities and couldn't be more excited.

You wanted my life story, right?

    Welcome to the IC-Forums Cindy!

Happy Birthday and Congrats on your degree pursuit with EC!!
