learning how to build a website

Does anyone have any resources that I could use to accomplish this? A friend of mine was running www.innovativerides.com but he hasn't had the time to update it so he asked me to do it. I don't have any real clue on how to do this, but I would love to learn.

Any books any of you could suggest I check out at the base library? Any online sources that you've used with success in the past? Any help would be great
