Arrow South African Schools = $20 per credit hour...

given the exchange rate and the fact that ECE and the like evaluate international transcripts for US equivalency credit, has anyone on the board tried any DL schools in South Africa? (Dirt cheap + RA equivalency = Gold Mine)...

There are a bunch of em and I understand that Unisa (University of South Africa) is a very reputable school but I read that their programs are not self paced(I could be wrong).

    In short,
Are there any Distance schools in South Africa with Independent self paced study?

    does this make sense?

    Default It's a scam

Isn't Africa where a bunch of scams are coming from? I wouldn't touch it.

Africa. That's a pretty big place...

South Africa in particular does have a large legitimate educational sector, academic & otherwise.

I really wouldn't touch it unless I intended on going into one of South Africa's main industries. Obviously a degree in English is not best suited there. But one in petroleum or other SA commodities may prove useful.

What major are you looking into?

Good luck on your quest for cheap credits.

UNISA meets my needs because it is self-paced, distance-based, extremely affordable, and their School of Business Leadership appears to have a good reputation. You do have to make at least 3 visits to the school to present at colloquia, but that sounds like fun to me.

    So far, so good! Cheers...

I got this from an online/distance ed forum, this one Positive UNISA experiences - Distance Learning Discussion Forums, seems like UNISA is self-paced afterall and they've been around for quite a while( from 1873, received the UK version of Accreditation known as Royal Charter in 1877)
