    Default Car stolen

I recently had my car stolen on the 29th of May. I filed the claim and waiting for the mail to sign off on it and mail in the keys. I also bought a new car a few days ago. But problem is, I got a call last night saying the car was found.

Now what do I do? I already bought a new car and was ready for the insurance to pay the rest of my loan on the stolen car. What will happen next? Will I be forced to take back the car that was stolen?

I have NOT received my claim payment.

I'd just pretend I never got the call saying my car was found. Wait until your claim is paid off and everything is all done, signed, etc.. Then wait a week or so and call your insurance people and say your car was found. Maybe the call was taken by your roommate who failed to pass on the message (wink wink) and so you still think your car is stolen.

Once you relinquish claim to your old car and mail in the title and keys, you don't have anything to do with it. It's their car now. Since they already paid the claim, your old car is theirs and you have your new one.

    Can you say..."insurance fraud?"

Shame on you, HawkGuy...and you passed Criminal Justice and Ethics in America?!

My advice would be to bring both your insurance company and the car dealer into the discussion. You just bought the car...maybe the dealer can work something out with you.

LOL! Dealers are not known for their understanding after the sale, but I must admit that it is better than the first option that was given you. I sympathize with you. You are put in a tough position.

Overnight the keys today. After you go see the car and check out any damage (there is usually some), it would be wise to immediately send the insurance company a letter saying that the car was found. If you get a check in the mean time, it was not because of any wrong doing on your part.

Well I contacted USAA insurance. I still have to make another call but the lady I spoke to made it sound like I have no worries, since I already bought a new car they will take the stolen car and nothing will change. But I won't get my hopes up until it's all over.

I wasn't really advocating insurance fraud. Just saying what you "could" do haha.

USAA really is great about stuff like that. If the chick you talked to said you were off the hook, then you should be good. I've had nothing but good experiences with them,
