Default Took Mngt Info Sys (MIS)

I went ahead and took the test and I can say IC is all you need for this one. I do not have any prior experience with business systems but I do research and build PCs so I had basic knowledge of computers.

This is my main point/contribution towards studying for this test. Do not do the Peterson's Practice tests. Whoever wrote them should be fired, immediately. These practice tests were so far from the actual I would swear they were for a different test. I know this will not be a popular theory here, but in my opinion, they did more to undermine my confidence of material I had learned and made me waste additional time studying/practicing for material not at all covered on the official test. I think that I saw one question related to the practice tests.

Anyways I'd say its close but should be a pass. I'm off to the mountains of Southern Germany for a little R&R then will attack another one, only have 7 more to go. Lee

Hi Lee,

Actually, I don't think your theory is TOO unpopular here. I, and many others, also feel that the Peterson mocks are usually more difficult than the actual exam.

I stopped using the Peterson mocks, as a GAUGE of my readiness to take an exam, after my first half dozen or so exams. I kept track of my mock scores versus my actual scores and, without exception, I always scored higher on the actual exam.

However, some people DO find that studying the material covered in the Peterson mocks helps them feel MORE confident going into the actual exam, because they know they will have prepared at a higher level than necessary to pass the real thing.

The bottom line is this: If taking the Peterson mocks discourages you....I wouldn't even bother taking them anymore. If, however, taking the Peterson mocks encourages you....go ahead and keep taking them. Just be aware that the actual exam is likely to be neither quite as difficult, nor quite as thorough, as the Peterson mocks.

Whatever works for you, is good, and should be continued! Whatever doesn't work for you, is bad, and should be discontinued!

I am SURE that you will have done well on the exam Lee. Especially if you felt good coming out of it. Now we just have to wait 27 years for you to get your results, right? Poor guy!

Best of luck,
Snazzlefrag

I have to concur, IC is all you need for this exam. Though I haven't received my results, I'm sure I passed. Based on your confidence I'm sure you passed too.

As for Peterson's, I've taken their practice exams whenever available as a second resource to the official study guides. I don't count on them to replicate questions, I only use them to firm up what I've learned and possibly pick up some terminology I may have missed using IC.
