Default Social Sciences Exam and Excelsior

I was wondering what Excelsior gives you credit for if you pass the Social Sciences and History CLEP...do you just get 6 elective credits or something more specific? Also, while we're on the 6 credit exam subject...how about the same question for the Humanities CLEP?

Thanks for your help...

Excelsior will give you six credits for this exam, provided you don't already have too many other social sciences and history credits. I found this out the hard way, by taking the exam and finding out after the fact that I was only going to be allowed three credits instead of six. I had a similar problem when I took the GRE Psychology test, and found out that I'd accumulated credits that duplicated those on the GRE. Even so, I would have taken both of these tests in spite of the fact that some of the credit was duplicated. Just keep in mind that it's not enough to read the printed material on what's allowed for credits, as there's no information provided on possible duplication ......or if there is it's not in the same location, and can therefore be missed. Needless to say, it's safest to check with an advisor first.
