Default American Public University

I'm not real familiar with the AMU side of the house but I believe it is targeted more toward active duty military folks. Both AMU and APU are member institutions of the American Public University System and share classes. In my two current classes, I'd bet somewhere in the neighborhood of 60% of the students are in the military. The AMU degree programs reflect that focus as well.

Default APUS accreditation - update (good news)

I had originally signed up with APUS and started the credit review process, but then when I found out they weren't regionally accredited, I got cold feet and passed. I'm interested in pursuing a Masters and didn't want to run into an issue later.

However, I just saw recently that they have finally received regional accreditation with North Central Association of Colleges, which is great. That was the only thing that hung me up about the program.

I attend AMU and they were good about giving me credit for all my CLEPs and some for my military schools. ALL of their classes are online and I have never had a proctored final. All of it is open book.

From what I understand, both APU & AMU are both RA & NA now.

It looks like they accept all completed Docnet courses as college credit, another free way of attaining credit other than FEMA.

Undergraduate college credit is available, free of charge, for the successful completion of any DOCNET course and its accompanying exam. The American Public University System, a nationally accredited online university system, will grant one undergraduate credit hour in the military science category for each DOCNET course completed. Note that the availability of this service does not imply an endorsement or sponsorship by the Department of Defense. For more information, select "College Credit" on the menu.

American Public University System (APUS) will grant one college credit hour for successful completion of each DOCNET course. The credit will be provided through one of two APUS member institutions: American Public University (APU) or American Military University (AMU). In order to receive undergraduate college credit, you must complete a DOCNET course, then successfully pass the examination at the end of the course.
Once you have passed the examination, you will have the opportunity to print out your Certificate of Completion that shows your name, date, and DOCNET course that was completed. After printing the Certificate of Completion, you can then enroll in APU or AMU by following their enrollment procedures. As part of your transfer credit evaluation process, you must provide a copy of the Certificate(s) of Completion to the APUS Registrar per the University System's transfer credit evaluation procedures.

DOCNET course credits are applicable as major or electives credits in any of APU's or AMU's degrees.

I attend AMU and I am loving it. I am kind of new to InstantCert but I have been reading the forums for a few weeks now and have found out a lot of great Info. I am taking my first test on friday.. Principles of Supervision. The flashcards are working great and I have scored 2 70's on the Petersons practice tests. AMU has also accepted every last one of my military credits from technical training(29) and they also accept FEMA and NFA credits. I am just about to send them the raw transcript straight from FEMA just to see what happens but I might end up doing the credit banking at TESC. Anyone else active duty Air Force? I am currently stationed in Misawa, Japan, 19 years old, married with baby on the way.. and loving it!
