That's what I don't get. How can EC say they'll accept the credits from FCC but not TESC? That's what seems strange to me. Regionally accredited is regionally accredited, so it shouldn't matter which school it comes from. I understand that each school is free to make it's own policy, but I'm not just not understanding why EC has this specific rule. Oh well, I go to TESC so it really doesn't bother me that much ![]()

Well--here's the deal as I understand it. If you are not a student of TESC, you can still use their credit banking service to consolidate your credits. Using that service does not make you a student--and it does not convert the credits to TESC credits. It simply records them. In other words, I believe I could have my Musician's Institute transcript sent to the TESC credit bank and they would record my classes in my credit bank. That doesn't mean they would accept them if I were to become a student--nor does it validate them for other colleges. Therefore, there's no real distinction between the credits remaining "raw" or appearing in a TESC credit bank transcript. They are simply raw credits recorded in the TESC credit bank. Now, although I'm writing this like I know what I'm talking about, it's really just my best guess based on the anectdotal evidence I've found on the forum.

Actually the banking service at TESC did turn the FEMA courses into TESC courses/credits. A specific TESC course number was assigned to each FEMA credit. When my TESC transcript was sent to Excelsior, Excelsior recorded the TESC course number, not the FEMA course number. The FEMA course numbers were not even listed on my TESC transcript. Just the TESC course numbers. ***For those new to the forum, Excelsior stopped accepting (and no longer accepts) FEMA courses transcribed from TESC. Excelsior's policy changed late last year***
