    Default Rant about Tuition Reimbursement

Okay...I work for Wachovia and I am fortunate enough to get tuition reimbursement through them up to $5,000/year. I have been going through a long battle with them over whether or not they will reimburse me for CLEP and DSST expenses. So far, the answer on that is no.

But go figure this: They have decided to grant me reimbursement for my EC exams because they are given from the institution that I am attending. I'm not sure if that makes a whole lot of logical sense, but I'll take it.

When I first mentioned CLEP and DSST to my HR department I got that blank stare of confusion. One lady kept saying..."Sir, we only pay for "actual" college credits, not some certification that you are getting taking these tests. I guess ignorance is bliss...

Try pointing your HR department toward this article. It may not help, but who knows? It could get the ball rolling toward revising their policy. Also, if you can show them your status report with the CLEP and DSST credits, that might be convincing too, since they are willing to reimburse for ECEs.

I work for GE and have the exact same problem. It would be cheaper on them also but so far I am out for the 8 CLEP's. Still money well spent though. I looked into TESC but they will not cover the $3000 tuition plus classes or whatever it is, just classes and books.
