Has anyone bought any of the study guides or flashcards being sold on Ebay? I am new at this DSST testing and am wondering if there is an "easy" way to study for these test. I have taken Here's to Your Health and passed it and am getting ready to take "Drug and Alcohol Abuse" tomorrow a.m. On to my next test after that, but have seen several study guides, cards and such on DSST and CLEP exams on Ebay and just thought I would ask you guys what you thought about them. Good Idea or no?
Thanks in Advane! |

I've never even searched it. I found IC and really only used it to pass about 15 dsst/cleps. I'm of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" persuasion. IC works so well and is really very cheap, I don't see the benefit of paying for something else.

Advane, If you are talking about the ones put out by "Pass Your Class", I would PASS (no pun intended)! I ordered the one for Macroeconomics and didn't care for it AT ALL. The information I got from InstantCert and other sites that were recommended here, along with the Peterson practice tests, helped me much more than that book. I know Pass Your Class puts out a lot of different booklets, so maybe some are better than others. But I ended up not even using it, so for me it was a waste of money. Just my two cents worth! In my own opinion,
I do have to admit that I have bought study guides off of eBaY from Passyourclass.com. To be 100% honest with you, I give the notes a “C+” at best and by no means would I ever take a CLEP/DSST test on their study material alone. However, the notes are nice to have if find yourself with down time and you want to study with no access to a computer. The way I see it, IC gets an “A” for an overall grade in subject matter that is covered on test. This is being totally honest. If you don’t have the background in a specific area, like me for almost every test, then supplemental resources are nice to have. But watch out for buying individuals personal notes to study form. What was good for them to study might not be the best for you. Simply put: InstantCert.com gets an “A” if you’re familiar with a topic and an “A-“ if you’re starting from scratch. Passyourclass.com gets an “C+“ if you’re familiar with the topic and an “D” if your starting from scratch. NEVER BUY SOMEONE’S PERSONAL STUDY NOTES Books such as “Idiot’s Guide to..” and “… for Dummies” are nice to have as well. Hope this helps Scott

I have researched ebay a lot but found the above sources to be the only useful items. I also think college text books (older editions are way cheap like $3-10 on Amazon used) are good for researching terms and people you don't quite grasp in condensed sources. Also www.reference.com encyclopidias are great for looking up the same terms and names.
