For all those business majors out there, I bring you this interesting little tidbit of info:
The Associate of Professional in Business Management has a 'Certified Business Manager Exam' that has been approved by ACE for college credit. It is recommended for 15 upper level semester hours in Business Administration, OR 9 graduate semester hours in Business Administration. The exam apparently consists of 4 parts, with each part of the exam costing $400 to non-APBM members. The cost is $360 for APBM members. Membership costs $68 a year. APBM members have the option of paying for all 4 parts of the exam at the same time for a total cost of $1400, a $200 savings. I haven't taken this thing. I have no intention of doing so. Just the same, perhaps someone may find this info useful. If anyone does decide to pursue this, all I ask is that you post your experience for others to possibly follow. I have no idea if you could take this exam to earn 15 upper level business admin credits, and then turn right around and apply it at another school towards an MBA for 9 graduate level credits. Also, the exam is offered at Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide. Here is all the supporting links for anyone interested: ACE Recommendation: http://www.acenet.edu/AM/Template.cf...ontentID=18320 APBM homepage: https://www.apbm.org/ APBM CBM Exam page: https://www.apbm.org/pages.aspx/cbm

Thanks Old Rusty Pipe!
Of course I would advise anyone thinking about this to make sure their school will accept it as graduate credit or even U/L. I got burned by a B&M with some business courses that were ACE accredited at the graduate level and U/L that I took from George Washington Uni via a 3rd party (Project Mgmt courses) and UMD absolutely refused to accept them as U/L, letter alone graduate level - they insisted on placing them as the most basic level like "intro to business"! Yeah, yeah, I know...don't go to a B&M ...etc..! Again, thanks for the information.

I looked over the eligibility requirements a little more in depth.
https://www.apbm.org/pages.aspx/cbmeligibility Basically, you can't sit to take this exam unless you already have at least a Bachelor's degree. With a Bachelor's you need a minimum of 4 years work experience. For those with a Masters, you need a minimum of 3 years of work experience. The 15 upper level credit recommendation WOULD be good for those pursuing a second degree, or those needing foundation courses before enrolling in an MBA program. I think the 9 graduate level credit recommendation is what makes this exam worthwhile. Definitely verify with you school if they will accept it, but if I were pursuing an MBA I'd probably shop around until I found a good school that would accept the credit in the first place. Grad school is expensive, and I can see some serious money savings with this exam. At $1400, that comes to about $156 a credut hour. Thats great for grad school.
