    Default Retake

The Eng Comp w/essay is not bad.

I took it cold. Got a 70 or so.

Just follow the generic essay format of one intro paragraph, 3 supporting paragraphs, and one conclusion paragraph.

    e-z money!

Do you need to take a course? Can you take Excelsior's Written English? I found it very easy compared to what I thought it would be. I used My Access! to study for it, that was key.

    Default Eng 101

I should be able to, I am know EC will not accept the English clep with or with out essay which does seem a little bizarre to me.

I have been hearing about my ec writing lab, but what is it?

Go to Excelsiors site and register for "My Access!" it is $30 for 9 months. It will help you pass. Excelsiors written English 3 credit exam ($225) is of course accepted by Excelsior. This is something I posted a few days ago about My Access. Good luck and avoid those classes if you can.

"I started with a 4.2 and after about 15 serious attempts I got up to 5.7 (which was 579 words) . At this point I took the College Writing 3 credit exam on 4/5/08 and got a B. There are 3 essays in 3 hours (which makes the real test harder if you are not timing yourself on My Access). Only 2 of the 3 essays are graded. I am reasonably confident I got an A on the first, C on the 2nd (MLA citation needed on this essay), and an A or B on the 3rd. Whether they choose the graded essays by the highest and the lowest score or just randomly, I'm not sure. Regardless, I would not have taken the test unless I was scoring a consistent B or better on My Access (my $225 is valuable to me).

On the exam I counted the words in the first two lines, to find the ave. # of words per line, and counted the lines. I'm a slow typer so I needed a quick way to count words. Of course there is no word counter or spell checker. You can't copy and paste from the original text. However you can from your own typing (for what good that is, I do not know). Know Modern Language Association citation format. Check this website out for an explanation
    MLA citation style.

I was very afraid of this exam before My Access, it turned out to be quite reasonable after all."

    Default Feedback for Iceman

I am about to finish the Penn Foster Composition course, it has been extremely flexible, no proctor neccessary.
It is structured with two multiple choice tests and 4 essays, It should be finished within 3 months, in my case I had to request and I was granted an extension due to a family emergency.
The delivery format is very friendly and feedback from instructors is quick.
You will have the option to use regular mail if you choose to do so.
I believe it is a Pass/Fail at Excelsior to meet the WER requirement.
I liked the price (includes all materials!) the quality and the flexibility.
I hope this helps. Good Luck!

    Default Hey Shoto!

    Hey Shoto,

You took a class with Penn Foster, Right?

What did you think, worth the money and time?

They seem to be pretty Legit on the up and up,

If I can knock out the English in a month or 2 , it would work out pretty good for me, since I need the flexibility to finish the class on my schedule and

    not theirs.

Default Look Under the Accred tab

Look under the accreditation tab and you will see it, I am thinking of taking English comp with them, 235 dollars for the 3 unit class.
