My School testing advisor told me this site was really good. Has anyone ever taken the US History Clep (both or either test)? If so can you tell me if this site really prepared you for it, and was it difficult? Please? And one more, how well did you do [if you do not mind]. Thank you so much.
And if I need more assistance, can anyone suggest more study materials? okay, done, thank you again.Cynthia |

I took US History 1 recently. There is a specific exam feedback thread that has some good advice. The best advice in there is the Anneburg media films at learner.org. The ones to look for are called a "Biography of America".
Not sure if this link will work: [url="http://www.learner.org/resources/series123.html"] After watching those, sign up for Instantcert and go through the flashcards a few times. If you are pressed for time, go through the IC cards, find out what era you know nothing about, and watch only those videos. Good luck.

I just took US History 1 and 2. I studied 2 weeks on US History 1 and 2 weeks on US History 2, I then took and passed both of the tests. I got a 59 on US History 1 and a 62 on US History 2. I studied with IC and the US History 1 & 2 REA study guides. If I still didn't understand something I looked it up online.
Hope that helps. |

I passed US History 2 using only InstantCert. Admittedly, my score was only 56. While this is not a terribly high score, it is roughly equivalent to a "B," which isn't too bad either considering that I studied for just under 2 weeks and used only InstantCert.
I didn't think the exam was too bad at all. I think that InstantCert will provide enough information for you to pass comfortably; however, it is probably not enough for you to completely ace the exam. My advice would be to concentrate on the period between 1865 and 1900 because a huge chunk of my exam covered this time span. FDR's presidency is another big one.

Hi Cynthia,
I have taken both CLEP exams way back in January ’05 and all I used was Instacert. I over studied as is my usual technique, so I knew about 90% of the answers from all of the questions. I’m not saying you have to study that much, but it helped me feel confident during the exams. I know it sounds like a lot, but you would be surprised at how fast you learn the answers after just a couple of reviews. These were my very first CLEP exams and were the ones that got my confidence up to tackle many more, plus a couple of DANTES exams. Good luck, Jay CLEPS American Government 62 U.S. History I 58 U.S. History II 64 Intro Psychology 56 Humanities 51 Info Systems & Com App 60 Intro Sociology 73 Principles of Marketing 69 Principles of Management 71 Intro.
