I took both of these back to back. I passed the Freshman College Composition but failed the English Composition. Which is weird, since they both cover the same material, yet the Freshman College Composition is worth 6 credits.

I just took the Freshman Comp 2 days ago and passed with a 70. The exam consisted of 88 multiple choice, mostly spotting grammatical errors, some analyzing poetry, quite a bit of reference questions (know bibliography references), overall I felt it was very straight forward.
Good Luck! |

I actually didn't really study at all. I went through the English comp. section of IC briefly to get a feel for the types of questions. I am also very familiar with APA format so the reference citations were not difficult for me. Personally I think if you are good with english/grammer you will be fine.

Hey, all! First posting for me...
I have decided to tackle the English Comp test first. I've been out of school for about 100 years, but English was always my strong suit. Has anyone used Instant Cert for this portion recently, and how well prepared did you feel. More importantly, how well prepared were you during the actual exam? As a newbie to this whole CLEP system, I'm a bit confused over how many actual questions are on the actual CLEP test, and how many of the 260 or so questions in the Instant Cert Study Guide would you say were on the 'real' test? Thanks for your input, and best wishes to all from Arvada, Colorado! -Don 'dad' Root |
