Default Specific questions from a Noob

Hello, this is my first post here. I have read a ton (including the welcome noobs thread) but I do have some specific questions that I'm hoping someone can answer. You guys really seem to have this whole testing thing down PAT!

I am currently a business major at a B&M university, in an adult degree program that is accelerated. I am drawing nearer to the end of my degree plan but I need several basic courses that I didn't take when I was younger. I wanna CLEP some. My uni is a tad picky but they take these, and I haven't taken the classes yet:
Princips of Micro
P's of Macro
Western Civ I
and I am considering the German exam, but it has been since high school (almost 20 years ago) that I studied german.

My specific questions:
1) What guides are best for each specific exam? i've heard mixed things about the micro/macro's. I haven't heard anything about German. I've heard CivI is total cake.
2) Share experiences of each exam, if you have a moment, particularly the german. Am I dreaming here? If I can't do it, then I'll just take some other elective at Uni. the problem there is that the course offerings are kind of limited in my program and there are no 'easy' electives really...basically, you choose a class from another major and I kinda don't want to do that, so if I can CLEP then heck, yeah!

Thanks everyone! I tried to read as much as possible and answered many of my own questions but these are the specific ones that I could sure use some guidance on!

If you go to this section you can find information specific to the tests you're considering, including the sources people used to study.

Thank you..I have got the testing thing down...and dont call me Pat... ..sorry j/k...

The exam info in in the "specific exam feedback" section of the forum in the main menu, you cannot see it until you are registered, in case you think you are going crazy.

With the German as any CLEP test it is pass/fail and you can retake after 6 months. If it were me I would figure out when I would need to take the B&M classes and take it right before then, to maximize study time. Hopefully you pass, the worst you dont and have to take it anyway. Since you have a background of sorts I would listen to tapes, read textbooks, join the German club, find conversation groups etc. There are only a couple of reports but the 12 credit clep is supposed to be multiple choice adn from what they said doable. There may be online/distance options as well.

Thanks! As far as pass/fail, thanks for that infor too. My university offers only neutral credit for any CLEP so all I have to do is pass according to ACE standards. I am also going to take one online English class, my uni won't accept the English CLEP I need.
thanks for the link, I had tried before but wasn't registered! Now I am so that helps!

You guys rock!

Would your university accept TECEP (Thomas Edison State College Examination Program) credits for your English requirement? Here is the link to the list of these exams: Thomas Edison State College/ All TECEP&reg Tests

Ooooo Pattie, thank you for the tip and I wish they would, but they won't. They just do the SAT/ACT/CLEP/AP tests for examination by credit, with a total allowed hours not to exceed 30.
