Default Peterson's Average?

Tomorrow morning I'm taking my first clep (Principles of Management.)

The Peterson's Principles of Management practice test is scaled out of 100. My question is what average on the practice test will generally get a pass on a CLEP and Dante's?

I will post my results on this thread. Thank You all for any input you can give.

I could be wrong, but some think scores of 70 or higher mean you are ready.

If you get a 70 or higher - you should have taken the test a week ago. No -- you can feel confident going into the testing center if you can pull off 50% + on each of the tests. Hasn't failed me yet!

Principles of Management should be a breeze for you as long as you are using InstantCert and feel like you have mastered the flash cards. I took the Principles of Management exam this past Saturday and I got a 70. The exam is very straightforward.

As far as the Peterson's exams are concerned, I have not found any specific guidleines to compare the scores on a Peterson's to the actual CLEP. My personal experience on 4 different exams has been the following:

US History II - Peterson's gave me 46%-49% and I scored 56 on CLEP
Principles of Management - Peterson's gave me 68% and it was 70 on CLEP
English Composition with Essay - Peterson's was 65%, and CLEP was 52
Analyzing and Interpreting Literature - Peterson's 54%, CLEP 54

In summary, the percentages on a Peterson's test seem to be pretty consistent with the raw score on the CLEP based on my experience. In many cases, people find that their percentages are slightly lower on a Peterson's than the raw score of the actual CLEP. I think it is pretty fair to estimate that if you are scoring a 55% to 60% on a Peterson's, the CLEP should be a smooth pass for you!

My average score on the Peterson's Princ of Mngmt tests was mid 70s; I took the POM CLEP yesterday and scored a 70.

I agree as a general rule of thumb with the previous comments below...I also appear to be one of those who should have "taken the test a week ago"...! I find that w/each Petersen I usually go up between 5-8 points with each practice test and then score a little bit higher on the actual CLEPS. I did find A&E Lit to be the exception to all the other Petersen's I have done.

I find the Petersen's tests give me the confidence to know I am ready and knock the exam out and also get in the right mindset for the questions. For some of my CLEPs the grade does not matter other than being a passing grade, but for others (such as Soc, Psych, etc) that I will have to show to another school for my next degree program the grades do matter...so I prefer to score higher.
