Default Exam Resources (newbies READ this) (And before asking a question, USE SEARCH FEATURE)

Even as a "seasoned" exam-taker, I find myself referring to a post reply from Snazz where he lists some of the best online resources (other than IC, of course!). So, I thought it was worth putting in a new post so it doesn't get lost on page 2...

Quoted from Snazzlefrag:
Since you will be taking many DANTES and CLEP Exams, I would HIGHLY recommend that you purchase both Official Study Guides. This is because each one covers several exams in one book (See note below for free downloads).

Official DSST Study Guide ($12.95):

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

CLEP Official Study Guide ($15.95):

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

Free Downloads:

If you prefer, you can also download the Official DSST Study Guide and another good book, Peterson's CLEP Success, (free of charge) here:
http://www.petersons.com/airforce/books.asp

The Official CLEP Study Guide is available for free download here (Chapter by Chapter):
http://www.inarng.org/Education/education.htm

These books will be invaluable to you as you progress in your studies!

Individual Exam Books:

For each individual exam, you may also wish to purchase an REA, COMEX, Cliff's, or Rudman's book to supplement your learning. Read this board, or ask us, if you want pointers about which book is best for a particular exam.

Free Mock Exams:

In addition, online mock exams are available for many of the CLEP exams (free if you register):
http://www.petersons.com/cpc/testpre...or=3893&tab=ap

You will also want to check out the free DANTES factsheet for each individual exam here (each Factsheet contains a breakdown of the exam and a handful of sample questions):
http://www.getcollegecredit.com/04le...tml#factsheets

Internet Resources:

Finally, there are numerous free online web sites which provide study material for the various exams (read the board or ask us for details).

----
Thanks Snazz for the excellent info - I'm sure everyone has benefited from having these links all in one place.

Default Online Study Resources (Multiple-subject)

Hi,

The list of foundational resources (kindly reposted above by libartsmgr) seems to be helping quite a few people. So I thought I would add a list of web sites which provide study resources covering multiple subjects.

Obviously, you'll need to visit each web site yourself and investigate to see if it contains study resources for the particular subject(s) you are working on.

Each of these web sites cover several different subjects, and it would be difficult to categorize each site by subject...so just go exploring and see what you can find! Okay?

Go here:
http://www.training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/crslist.asp

Then click on "IS Transcript Request" in the left hand navigation panel.

There isn't even a charge to have FEMA send a transcript out. How cool is that?

Good luck Ron,

Am I right in concluding that if I am not on a military base, I can not use the CLEP practice tests? The reason I ask is because it aks me for a "code" and I don't have one.

Thanks
Kat

Kat - I certainly do not want to advise you to find a different way to access it that allows you to take the practice test for free even though you are not on a military base, although I have heard that it's possible. You can also go to http://www.petersons.com to access the civilian site. You'll pay $20 per subject to take the practice tests.

Good luck!
