Default Was this a dumb move

I took US History II, I only studied one day and IC's website was down last night for a few. I didn't get to study like I really wanted. I went and took the exam. i felt like I got a lot of questions right but was unsure of my score.

I canceled my score. Would it have mattered on my transcripts if I would have got a failing score? would it have hurt me? I didn't want some type of F showing up on my transcript.

I will not comment on your decision being dumb or not, that's a personal choice but I will say that one should NEVER go into an exam without being properly prepared and confident. This way you only have one choice at the end and that is to hit the REPORT SCORES button without having any hesitations or reservations.

that didn't answer my question. In regards to a CLEP how would it show up on my ECE transcript if I failed it.

It can't show up on your schools transcript if you don't have it sent to the school. You have the option to not have the scores reported at the beginning of the test. In the future, if you are unsure that you are prepared, simply wait until you have completed the test, and have a passing score. Then, send in a transcript request to Clep ( or DSST) and have the score reported to your school. Both CLEP and DSST allow you to suppress scores on their transcript request forms. This is not breaking the rules, or being under handed. You are simply exercising an option available to you.

You didn't say which college you attend, but most colleges don't give you anything for a failed CLEP. In other words- you don't "earn" an F because they don't acknowledge a non-pass.
When can you retake it? Does canceling a score require you waiting 6 months?

Since EC does award grades for some exams, perhaps someone here can answer exactly what happens with failing scores?!? I still think it won't count- or even appear- but I would like to hear it from someone here firsthand.

After reaching the third advisor at Excelsior, my understanding is that is does not show up. The only exams that do show up as failing on your GPA is Excelsiors exams. I'm still waiting to find out for sure as my algebra fiasco would have shown by now so I'll confirm once the proof is in the pudding.

I called clep, I told them I canceled accidentally. They told me to fax a letter and they would send my score. I have 7 days to do this.
