The quizzes are 50% of the grade, and the case study project is another 30%. The discussion is 20%. I'll continue to post to the board after 01/25, but I want to be able to say "I earned my degree in sixty days" and that means being done on 01/25. What do you think? Am I cheating if I follow that plan?

I think if you have complete enough of the course to pass (80+%) by the 01/25 date and are just posting to the board to raise the final grade I would consider that "earning your degree in 60 days". I've done enough Philosophy that I think there is a valid arguement to support that.

If extraneous circumstances limit you from finishing your program in 2 months due to non self-paced courses, I say you have done everything you could to complete your degree within the 2 month time period.

Kind of reminds me of Boyscouts, when I completed 99% of my requirements for life scout and eagle scout but was told I'd have to wait another 6 months each before I could attain them.

I lost interest!

That's why I like the self-paced environment. It keeps me competitive with myself, and I keep so emersed for so long, I don't have time to stop and take a break (which won't allow me to take an extended break)

I hate waiting! 12 more days until I can start taking CLEP/DSST so I'm signing up Penn Foster Courses tomorrow.

Great job Gary.

I'm also currently enrolled in Business Strategy at excelsior this semester. Does the professor care if you turn in your case study early?

Well, I don't exactly know. I sent an email to him about it, but he hasn't replied directly. He did remove the restrictive start times on the quizzes. I may try asking again, or I may just turn it in and risk taking a hit on the grade. By the way, are you in my class with Prof. Sherman? Have I seen your name on the discussion board?

Well, I finished all the quizzes for Business Strategy. Out of 260 quiz questions, I got two wrong, and one of those is a mistake in the quiz, I'm convinced. They're open-book quizzes with no time limit, so this is nothing all that remarkable -- kind of a scavenger hunt, really. So I'm 50% done with Business Strategy, and on course for Finance and A&I Lit. I'm going to the NAMM show tomorrow morning, and then my challenge is to work through the entire Penn Foster Managerial Accounting course between tomorrow afternoon and Saturday night. If I make it, I may reward myself by going to NAMM again on Sunday morning (but only if I see anything there on Thursday that I really want to buy). After that it's nose to the grindstone on the Business Strategy case study project! (and as much participation in the discussion board as I can manage)

I also have professor Sherman, but I haven't seen your name in the discussion forums. Yeah the class seems really easy, but I'm in no hurry since the class doesn't end until May. If he grades your case project early than I'll go ahead and rush through it too.

I got my grade on the ECE English Composition -- scored a B . I'm plenty happy with that. I have to score at least a B on DSST Principles of Finance and EC Business Strategy to clinch cum laude. If I score As on both of those, I might be eligible for magna cum laude. Does anybody know for sure whether Excelsior academic honors are based only on Excelsior GPA or on overall GPA?

Neither. My understanding is that your GPA is based on all qualified graded tests/courses that apply to your degree--and I assume (dangerous) that the honors are based on that same GPA.

DSST Principles of Finance (69) and CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (79) are done and out of the way. All I have left is Penn Foster Managerial Accounting and Excelsior Business Strategy. Oh, and that TECEP Operations Management is still a big question mark hanging out there.

I was concerned that I was under-prepared for the Finance exam. I considered delaying it until next week, but in the end I didn't want to have to think about it while trying to finish my Business Strategy case study project. I'm sure glad I took it today! I need to knock out the four online Penn Foster exams today and tomorrow so I can tackle the case study project the rest of the week. The PF proctored exam should be Thursday, since they won't send it to my proctor until Wednesday. (They're closed on Monday for MLK Day, Tuesday they'll verify that I passed all the online exams, and generate the exam in an end-of-day run, and so they can't send it out until Wednesday.) It's going to be quite a week, but I think I can make it!
