You cant really get a total of 40 credits through FEMA, they may offer 40 classes but some only reward CEU credits and there are only so many that are actually recommended by ACE, and when NYPD requires 60 credits to work there, I believe they are trying to say an Associate Degree in the Criminal Justice field, or another related field, or maybe even on the way to get a degree, not just 60 random credits from who knows where.
So through AMU, where I attend, I believe they will give me 10-15 credits for my FEMA courses and I believe they are pretty open when it comes to transfering certificate credits. Quote:

Technically you can get pretty close to 40 credits through FEMA. TESC will accept 25 credits RAW, and then accept additional credits from FCC for anything above and beyond the 25 RAW. However, it would be hard to utilize more than 25 FEMA credits unless you are going for more than 1 degree. |

Also, you should know that in order to get the FEMA credit transferred in raw, you would have to enroll at TESC. WHERE your FEMA credits are applied is worth consideration. For example, if you were at TESC getting your BA in liberal studies, the FEMA credits would be free electives. I am 99% sure TESC has an Associate degree program that has a "major" of emergency something or other.... worth checking into, but their Associates only take 21 credits in the areas of focus (and require a practicum).

Depending on how you score EC will give you up to 30 credits for the GRE, the full 30 comes at an 80th percentile score or above and the credit award is reduced like every 5% down to 3 credits at an(approximate) 35th percentile score.
You may want to look at this program for using the FEMA credits...Emergency Management & Planning Last but not least you can just CLEP what you need...Humanities,A/I and Social SCi/Hist will give you 18 credits alone (most seem to think these are very doable), then depending on what you are good at you can do several other Lit courses for 6 each or Bio/Nat Sci/Math for 6 each...or use IC and take 4 random 3 credit tests. One thing you may want to consider is that you can (at EC at least I think) apply your academy training towards a degree, so you may want to look over the requirements for that when you take your credits so they will count towards that..a little planning ahead and you will be in a sweet spot Blitz |

Maybe since you are trying to become a police officer: The Backup Training Corporation | Home From what I understand you can earn up to 17 credits in law enforcement with them, but normally you are supposed to already be in the police. Perhaps you can work something out since your goal is to join the force.

Careful on this one. I ordered several courses a month or so ago from thebackup.com and found they have charged my credit card but never sent the items yet. This is a division of Blackwater I believe.\
