For most (not all) the NS exam is difficult. I would search for the other threads and study sources before committing to this exam with just a week of study.
I SUGGEST taking the BIOLOGY CLEP FIRST before sitting the NS exam. I say this as the NS exam is made up of 50% of biology and the balance of chemistry, geology, physics, and astronomy. If you can pass biology first, then the NS exam isn't so bad. I studied for biology for 3 weeks, took the exam and passed. Then I added another 2 weeks of study for the NS exam and passed it too. Here is my list: INSTANTCERT Biology REA Biology Standard Deviants - Biology Welcome to davidandlaurie.com! - NS exam study guide. BTW: InstantCert does have 123 science questions listed in the GED Science section that can be somewhat helpful. Also try the Comex book too. Special Offer: Special Offer: David and Laurie's Downloadable NATURAL SCIENCE CLEP(tm) NOTES! Check this out too: http://www.instantcertonline.com/for...atural+science

If you do not have to specifically take the Natural Science clep, might I suggest taking the Astronomy DANTES/DSST exam. I received 3 units of Natural Science credit for it. I studied some free sparknotes online for 2 1/2 hours the night before and passed with a scaled score of 56 which translated into an "A" grade at Excelsior. There is no instantcert study guide on this one yet. Very simple exam in my opinion. An easy A. Be advised that when I had completed the exam I thought I had surely failed, but alas I had passed with flying colors. Good luck.

I just took the NS exam 2 days ago and failed -- and I studied what I thought to be the right information! I used another site's "resources" which told me that basically with their guide and flashcards, I'd be learning what is on the test and that they have a 99% success rate. I am guessing the 1% are those who take Natural Sciences. I was devastated! It was extremely difficult, in my opinion. I would study a long time and know the principles behind processes (mitosis, meosis, translation, transcription, enzymes, glycosis), genetics, diseases, and be able to read and understand graphs and charts that show different experiental data, chemical reactions, etc. It was not enough for me to be able to know facts (and I knew about 300 flashcards inside and out.
I am trying the Biology clep now and after finding this forum I've gotten some great ideas for what to study. Something someone recommended to me was the book Biology Smart by Deborah Guest. Another great thing is to purchase Peterson's practice tests. I've heard that if you can pass them, you can pass the clep. |

Hey, I am not exactly certain of proper form here, May I ask a related question in this same thread? OK here goes...I am considering taking the NS exam because I need a physical science and a lab. It must be a 3/1 combo not just the 3cr clep or dantes. I already have 8 credit hours of biology from Nursing school. I took Anatomy and Physiology I & II with the labs. I adore science but I am busy as all get out and don't have any time for dilly dally. What are the odds of me passing with only instacert? ANNNNNNNNNNNd what other resources are available?

I think the Princeton Review Cracking the CLEP is the best resource for this one. I took the practice exam in that book and went over the explanations of the right and wrong answers. Then I took the Official Guide practice exam just to be sure. I ended up passing with a 71. It's not the easiest CLEP, but it's certainly passable, especially for somebody who adores science. |

Hey, the Natural Sciences clep gives me credit for a lab at my school. If I had not already had 2 biololgy lab combinations then Troy would give me both the biology/lab credit and the physical science/lab credit. I only need the physical science part though. Now is this not the usual way of things for other schools? If you are not permitted to clep your lab portions what do you do?
