Red face Principles of Microeconomics...

I am a newbie to Instacert. One of the directors at my place of work swears by Instacert, so I figured I would give it a shot. My question is...Has anyone taken the Principles of Micro/Macroeconomics CLEP test and passed it using the Instacert study guides? I failed Macro the first time I took it through CLEP and am quite concerned about taking Micro. I used a different study guide and obviously it did not work for me. I am open to suggestions, etc.

Thank You,
Janet

I have not taken this test yet. Many have passed using IC. I am sure alot have used other sources of study to go along with IC. I have used IC for many tests and I would swear by it also. You may want to look at the specific thread for the exam for additional input.

I have just recently finished passing both Macro and Micro. For macroeconomics, I read a library text book first, and when I thought I had a good handle on the subject, I joined instacert. I was so glad I did, because at that point I could only answer about 10-30% of the flash cards correcly. I would have failed had I not worked the flash card sections over and over until I could answer most of the questions correctly. For the second test, I also checked out a book from the library so that I could more easily study the graphs. The only item that I found on my version of the test that wasn't included in any of the text books or flash cards were a couple of references to prime rate (macro). Be sure to familiarize yourself with that term as well.

Good luck and I think you will find that the flash cards are worth the effort!

I ended up with a 67 for macro and a 65 for micro.

I plan on taking the Principles of Microeconomics Exam next week. I found a Spark Notes online and to my surprise it covers alot of information. Does anyone have pointers on from passing this exam? I took it once before 6 months ago recieving a 39, I really want to pass it this time which is a 50.

I took Microeconomics a few days ago and failed miserably with a 35. I studied for about 2 weeks using Economics for Dummies and the Petersons online test but could not pass. Any advice on how to study for this exam since it's mainly situational questions? BTW, love this forum!!

I took Microeconomics at the end of November and it wasn't very easy. So the person that said they failed, don't feel bad. I would recommend going on Ebay and buying a book on AP Economics. Clep and AP are both written by College Board. AP is more for high school students, but the books are wonderful for studying, and they have test in them so you can gage how you are doing. I bought one by Princeton Review and one is orange... don't remember who wrote it. I would study the Peterson's test too. When you go over the answers, read them too, they are just important as the problem itself (same for InstaCert). I still have to do Macroeconomics too... but not until March. Good luck to you : )

I used IC as my main resource for both Macro and Micro. I could not, repeat could NOT, have done it without IC. I had a couple of different books (the REA AP Guide and the Cliff's book) and I found them very confusing. They just tried to cover too much too fast and I needed some basic foundational grounding.

Here's an online book that also helped with the basic grounding.

Good luck!

Hi Studyhard: I see that you've passed DSST- Modern Middle East with a high score. I will be taking the exam on Friday and borrowed a lot of books from the library today. Any advice/tips on what to study? It's such a broad area. Really appreciate it.
