Please Advise Me

Hi everyone,
I am a new member to this forum and to this whole process. I have been search for information on how to get started but I haven't really found what I'm looking for. My questions are do I need to sign up for college before I started taking the exams or can I do the exams first?
What I want to achieve is this. I want to become a certified teacher therefore, which program from exclecior should I major in. I'm in need of examples of what course and exams you all took in order to get your degrees.
Please forgive me if I am not clear if thats the case I'll try to be more specific.

No need to sign up first. You can begin taking exams any time you wish.
