Default U S History CLEP

I am so glad that I have gotten the U S History II CLEP out the way. I passed it with a 52.

The version that I took had alot of questions about civil rights, not just African Americans but immigrants also. It also had alot of questions abut authors and their works. I didn't have but one question about the Acts that were implemented. I found the test to be alittle harder than the Peterson tests.

First off, Congrats on the pass !. Second, thanks for your feedback; it will be very helpful in preparing future test-takers for this challenging test. Keep up the good work and keep us informed on your progress. Lee

Congrats on passing!! Did you find the test to be alot more difficult than the Peterson's, or was it fairly close?

Ok I took and passed the US History II test today with a 57 and have the following thoughts…..

The test was not at all what I was expecting in regards to a history test, it was almost more of English lit test.

- There were many many questions on the different writings and poems of different authors and you had to pick the author and or era it came from.

- The test had nothing on it about any of the presidential assassinations

- The test had nothing on Pearl Harbor , Midway, Battle of the Bulge , Coral Sea or anything else related to wars and or battles.

- The test had basically nothing on any of the acts, maybe two questions total out of 120 on acts and what they did

- The test had basically nothing on any presidential candidates, party affiliations or elections. Maybe a total of four questions in this whole area.

- If I were studying for it again (knowing what I know now) I would study the following

- Know everything about civil rights

- Know everything about Web Dubious, Marcus Garvey, Booker T Washington, Malcolm X, etc

- Know everything about the Jim Crow laws, Plessy vs. Ferguson, Brown vs. Topeka.

- Really know the literature of each decade, who wrote the books, the poems, etc

- Understand the dumbbell tenants

- Know everything you can about the use of Mexicans for farm workers in the 1950s and 60s

Feel free to ask me any more questions, and I will answer what I can.

I used the REA book and IC almost exclusively.

Thumbs up GREAT feedback!

THANKS for the excellent feedback! I will copy it into the Specific Exam Feedback section so that others can benefit from your experience (keeping in mind that there are several different versions of this exam).

Let us know how you did, and best of luck with your other studies!

Take care,
JoAnne

I found the actual clep test to be harder than Perterson's. It didn't have anything about the different acts or anything else I figured would be on there. I was totally surprised.

Hi cdreams,

First of all, welcome to the IC forum. You must log in to InstantCert to be able to access the Specific Exam Feedback section. If you are visiting InstantCert as a "guest", you will not see this section show on the first screen you come to when you log in.

Once you ARE logged in, the Specific Feedback section will be the last section on the list.

Hope that helps.
JoAnne
