Default Liberal Arts EC receive credit for Social Science CLEP

    Hi,
This is my first post and I really enjoy this forum. I just enrolled at Excelsior a week ago and I am very close to graduating (I think I have around 108 hours or so maybe 111) and I want to sign up for the Social Science and History clep. I am a liberal arts major with Excelsior. I just want to make sure I'll receive credit for passing the exam before I sign up. I can wait a few weeks to get an offical answer from EC, but I'm very eager to finish by July. Also, will I receive 6 hours from EC?
I've taken intro to psych clep, western civ 2 clep and I took intro to sociology and american history 1 and 2 at a brick and mortar school. I just want to see if anyone knows if EC will say I am duplicating classes?

    Thanks so much!!

    My semi-educated reply would be:
It looks like Social Sciences and History is 6 credits in my Excelsior credit by exam catalog--but it says (general)3 next to the title and I'm not sure what that means. If there's a choice between general and subject--choose subject. You'll really have to get the official word from them--but I'm putting my money on 6 big ones. I don't see anything that looks like duplication in your short list of completed courses. Again, get the word from them, but I would be shocked if there was any duplication down there. I don't know, however, if any from that list duplicate your proposed Social Science and History. So--how's that for a whole lot of words that amount to "I don't know.... but I think so?"

I just finished my degree with them, you ALWAYS want to get pre-approval of any test BEFORE you even start studying for it....especially as close as you are to completing your degree. A councilor will look at what you have and compare the class you want to take to ensure it doesn't overlap. I did this with all my classes so I didn't waste any time. Hope this helps, Lee
