I have taken 8 CLEP exams and passed them all. With a big thank you to IC and this forum.
I now need to take several DANTES exams. As it stands now I have a very good system for studying and passing the CLEP exams. My question is to those who have taken both types of exams. As compared to CLEP exams are the DANTES exams more difficult, less difficult, or about the same? I know the best way to find out is to just pick one, study and then go take it, but I really want to hear from those who have taken both exams have to say. As a two year member of IC and a new member to this board I also feel like I should try and give something back to the IC community as I have benefited greatly from this forum. I will be posting more later in with my own observations and tips. To be honest, I don't find Dantes more difficult than CLEP......I think it truly depends on the subject. Obviously, some subjects are more difficult than others. I think some may have a preference for one or the other, based on the format, but that's the only thing that I can think of.

Well, that's a good take. From the lack of responses I'm guessing that is most people's opinion. Thanks Jay |

I'll be Lemmings and agree with the rest It comes down to how well you prepared for each test. In the end, they both test your knowledge so you have to be prepared. It's been said that the hardest test is always the one you didn't prepare for properly. I have taken both CLEP & Dantes, while the wording on Dantes is a bit different; I still scored about the same. Good luck and let us know how they turned out. Lee

Here's another thing I've thought of regarding Dantes: some people absolutely LOVE that the written DSST's are untimed. I think it's great as well, but....having done the written exam...by the time I was done simply entering my personal information...I was ready to be completely done, though I hadn't actually even 'started' the exam. My fingers were already sore from filling in those stupid bubbles. The CBT DSST's ARE timed. You have 2 hours to complete them. Even on a difficult subject....anything more than 2 hours, my brain is completely mush anyway...so, I personally LOVE the computer-based DSST's. I'll take those any day over the written...even though the written is untimed. Anyway, just a few more of my thoughts.

I have taken both tests. Based on the IC cards I would say that the CLEP tests are easier. The Dante's test are about the same but the CLEP test actually has several questions that come striaght from the flashcards. I just figure if I study for both the same way I should be fine with either test!! I'm sure you will do great!!! Good luck to you!!

I've taken a bunch of CLEP, one DSST. Based on that unreliable sample ratio, I'd say DSST is a good deal easier than CLEP.
