Hello All,
I just sat my last test, ECE's UL Social Psychology, and I think I smoked it. Steve, the cards are SPOT ON! I took my sweet time with this one and basically had all 400 questions memorized. I supplemented them with the following link as well: http://wps.prenhall.com/hss_aronson_socpsych_5 This is the textbook Excelsior wrote the test on. It had PP slideshows, pretests, chapter reviews, matching quizes, and finally...chapter tests for all 16 chapters. I did these over and over till I had the answers memorized. I downloaded the EC Guide for the test and took the 25 question practice test as well. I put alot more effort into this than I usually did because it was my last one and I didn't want to fail and have to take DSST's Civil War test (gag). I now have to wait about 10 days to get the results from EC, but I am very sure I passed it. The test was 130 questions long, very short compared to the other ECE Psych 160 question tests I've taken. It took me 1 1/2 hours to complete using the old fashioned pencil method. About 70% of the time I knew the answer after halfway reading the question. I found it weird to feel confident on passing for a change... Maybe that's why people study hard.... I would recommend taking this one until after you've taken Research Methods in Psychology as about 15-20% of it was on the experiment design. The cards didn't cover this as well as they could of, but I was prepared because I had taken RM in Psych. More to come after the results come in. Now I have the daunting task of persuading the education office to help pay some of these costly graduation fees Excelsior has....... Any of the military folks here have any luck with that? Thanks, Lee

Congratulations Lee! You must feel great right now after pushing so hard to get done with this project. Are you going out to celebrate now or when you get the confirmation of what you already know? I vote for now.
Thank you so much for the feedback also. There isn't much available on this forum yet concerning this test. I was planning on taking it next but after reading your post I am going to switch to studying for Research first. I haven't taken statistics though. Would you say that I should take that before the Research Psych? Appreciate your comments. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Librevore, I can't speark yet about taking any of the Psychology Tests but for my two cents worth I would take Statistics sooner than later. I have found that as I am studying for the different tests that I run into statistics about the different areas. It has really helped me in deciphering what they are trying to say and I am trying to learn. I've never been sorry that I got "The Dreaded Statistics Test" out of the way. Anyway, that's my two cents worth .

I didn't have to take statistics as I am not pursuing a Psych degree, it's just my second area of focus. The only reason I chose that area of focus is because IC had study guides for them. If I was able to make it through all of these Psych tests, with zero experience-or interest for that matter, I'm sure the rest of you will do fine. Statistics doesn't seem to play much into these, the experiment model from Research Methods in Psychology does. Once you get it down, it's not too bad, just start in the first section and work your way through, it will make sense in the end.
As for the celebration, I had to work tonight so no celebrating today. However Friday night will be a different story as my British buddy is having a B-day party at our pub; we now have another reason to party! I do believe Mr. Guinness is calling my name..... Lee

Well, YOU have earned the right to celebrate Mr. Basket Weaver! And who knows...maybe you'll get to put all that newfound Psychology knowledge to use by "analyzing" your British buddies...just to bug the hell out of them! Congrats on making it through!! JoAnne ![]() |

Thanks Lee. That's very reassuring. Statistics are a required course for my degree but I'm kinda on a roll with my psych classes and didn't want to interrupt them to take stats if I didn't need to. Yutzi, thanks for your comments too. I think that I am going to move stats up sooner rather than towards the end of my degree plan like I had it. I've been dreading it somewhat but getting it out of the way WILL be better. If I don't do well, I'll still have time to redo it and if I do do well, then there will be the sweet relief of knowing it is over. That's one of the things that I love about this forum. The advice is always excellent. Lee, have a great time Friday! ![]()

Nope, I just checked too. The test administrator stated she would send it the same day so I have no idea why it is taking this long. I have called Excelsior 3 times.
