Default Pass Your Class errors

I recently bought a copy of Pass Your Class for Social Science and History. My wife read through it and noted the following observations in a letter back to Pass Your Class:

Pass Your Class
passyourclass.com
Address Unknown

To Whom It May Concern:

I recently came across your course material for “Social Sciences and History.” I picked it up thinking I would be able to have a quick read and learn some things along the way. I was sorely disappointed. The material is riddled with incorrect grammar, no style guide usage, numerous mistakes, and uncalled for political commentary.

While I don’t generally review my reading material for editing purposes, I found that I could not help but reach for a pen to correct mistakes. I am appalled to know that this shoddy material has been published in an effort to teach students how to pass a Social Sciences class. I became incensed at reading error after error, and finally ended up throwing the book across the room when I reached the end of the American History section.

I only hope the “Social Sciences & History” package will be recalled until it can be rewritten. Morally, I urge you to refund anyone who purchased this - they gave you hard earned money for this low quality, inadequately written, and poorly edited study material - you owe them.

Sincerely,

T**** ******

I agree with your wife. Everyone can make a mistake when writing but something like this should have been proof read by many people. I find errors like this distracting when I'm reading and trying to learn.

Let's refrain from slamming other products; allowing such posts does not reflect positively on us (InstantCert) as a company.

Just my humble opinion--either the guides help you to pass the test or they don't, and any complaints should be about that. Typos and grammatical errors (which we're also guilty of) are typically not going to detract from your ability to learn the material.

Obviously, passyourclass is a competitor for us, but I have seen posts indicating that their materials can help a test-taker to earn a few additional points on the test. I'd like to see them judged on the relevance of their material, not on the quality of the writing...

I wouldn't categorize my comment as a slam per se, but I think it's important for other students to know the level of quality that other testing products offer.

I purchased the passyourclass pre-calculus material this week for $35. I was less than enthralled with the material as a whole and while I am not familiar with their other products, this one clearly is not what they advertise it as.

i have not used these guide but have been looking into them as a possible secondary source for prep.

Just FYI they sell these guides on ebay for 20 bucks. I assume you bought it off of the original website.

So can anyone comment on the usefulness of the material in the guides overall even if there is a few typos?

What filled you with such anger?

I can only presume that the view of "American History" was not what you would have considered to be accurate?

Please tell me that it didn't give a prediction of Hilliary getting into the White House....again!

When those typos move you from a 51 to a 49 ... or a pass to not pass then the typos matter.

Wow... thanks for censoring me ... now no one knows what the problem was. I guess next time someone points out a Petersons inaccuracy I will delete the last half of their message.

Well some day if you get moderator privileges on this board, feel free to do that. In the meantime, I will do what I consider appropriate.

There you go thinking for me again... thanks. You must think I really care about what you do...I don't

The original post was put there to help others who may own the inadequate poor quality study guide, or may be considering spending $20 or $35 only to find out there are factual and typographical inaccuracies in what they bought.

Just as people spend $20 per month here if you had inaccurate information others would report it whether you liked it or not.

Have a great day.
