    Thumbs up

Well, I got the scores back to my first DSST, Here's to Your Health. I got a 57. I browsed the flashcards a little but my experience as a medic in the Army came in handy with a lot of the questions. Others seemed to be common sense. Anyway, 3 more credits over with. YAY!

I have been a member for a grand total of 2 days! It's so cool to see so many people doing so great with the help of instantcert. Since I'm new,I have a lot of anxiety.I'm preppin to take the Macro clep.School beings again on the 28th and I'd like to be ready to clep it that week before things get intense. Can anyone tell me do the AP study guides help at all?I couldn't find an actual CLEP study guide for macro. Also,is there many calculations(if any)? If this goes well,I hope to clep out of business law, western civ 2, and microeconomics.Also-I'm such a rookie!-my college requires a "50th percentile". So what's the minimum score I must get? 50? Excuse my naivety, but I'm really excitied and nervous, like shooting a gun for the first time.Once the first one is over, the rest is easy!Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanx! Good luck to all of u!

First - Welcome to the IC-Foums!

Second - You may wish to take a look for the Macro&Micro video/dvd available from The Standard Deviants either from your library or get a cheap (used) copy from amazon or ebay.

Third - The exam PASS rate runs from the 50th - 80th percentile range. This is not 50% - 80% (say getting 50-80 correct out of 100) but an adjusted score based on your results and those previously attained from other examinees as deemed by the college board. In any event, a 50 is just as good as an 80 in terms of PASSING and receiving credit.

    GOOD LUCK!!

    Hi Everyone,

I have been busily taking exams for the past week, and I was sick with the flu for the couple of weeks prior to that. As a result, I have had a heck of a time keeping up with ALL the numerous passes that you guys have reported lately.

Please don't take it personally if I didn't get a chance to congratulate you.

I want to take this opportunity to send out collective congratulations to EVERYRONE who has passed an exam in the last three weeks.

It has obviously been a very productive few weeks for many members of the board! WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Let's keep the momentum going, shall we?

Best of luck to everyone with upcoming exams. We're kicking a** and we're not taking any prisoners!

    Keep it up,
    Snazzlefrag

    Hi Keandre,

    Welcome to the board.

You saw that Instantcert has a study guide for CLEP Macroeconomics, right? Just checking!

Here are a few links to additional online resources that might be helpful to you:

    http://college.hmco.com/economics/bo...ace/index.html

    http://www.sparknotes.com/economics/

    http://www.learner.org/resources/ser...354842&pid=338 (videos)

    http://www.socialstudieshelp.com/sitemap3.html

    http://ingrimayne.com/econ/TOC.html

    ---

Regarding the "50th Percentile". The CLEP and DANTES exams are scaled so that the minimum passing score for each exam, is equal to the mean passing score of students who earned a grade of C in the corresponding college course

So, if the average raw score of the sample students (who took the corresponding college course and passed with a grade of C) was 45 correct answers out of 93 questions. WE would ALSO need to achieve at least 45 correct answers out of 93 questions to pass that particular exam. A raw score of 45 out of 93 would then be adjusted to equal a scaled score of "50" (with a 20-80 range).

The reason they scale the scores rather than just reporting the raw scores, is so that a scaled score of "50" on one exam always has exactly the same objective value as a scaled score of "50" on any other exam (regardless of difficulty level).

Further, for some exams, there isn't enough statistical data to be able to award grades. These exams are therefore only evaluated as pass/fail.

In the case of your particular school, they have set their own policy and have decided to only award pass/fail credit for all exams. But, rest assured, if you pass an exam, you will have done at least as well as the average college student who took the actual course and got a grade of "C".

    Pretty neat really, isn't it?

Anyway, I hope this explanation helps,
    Snazzlefrag

how do i find out what score i need to actually make? from my school? Does the score that appears on the screen once you have completed the test tell you anything at all about whether you passed or not? i'm so nervous. Has anyone used only instantcert and passed comfortably? As far as this exam goes(Macroeconomics) is it wise to use another study guide as well? Also is the macro exam relatively easy or difficult,as I've read some people post about accounting? Thanx!!!

Does the score that appears on the screen once you have completed the test tell you anything at all about whether you passed or not? Yes, on an exam given via computer you get an instant score at the end.

i'm so nervous. Has anyone used only instantcert and passed comfortably? Some have; it depends on the topic.

As far as this exam goes(Macroeconomics) is it wise to use another study guide as well? Yes, check out the Standard Deviants video/dvd.

Also is the macro exam relatively easy or difficult,as I've read some people post about accounting? To me, it was moderately difficult - you WILL NEED to STUDY!!

    Thanx!!!
