Hello everyone.
Does anyone know if TESC will accept Penn Fosters - ENG121 Business and Technical Writing
(3 credits) to satisfy the Managerial/Business Communications Requirement? The course description for the above course sounds similar to the description for the Managerial Communications (MAN 373) that is listed on TESC's website. This is the description for the Penn Foster Course Below: Writing styles; ABC method of organizing material; grammar (parts of speech, active and passive voice, complete sentences vs. sentence fragments; parallel construction); using action verbs; constructing paragraphs; writing memos, business letters, and emails; organizing material; conducting research; documenting sources; outlining; providing illustrations; writing reports, proposals, descriptions, instructions, articles, and manuals. Or what what about this one: HUM106 Interpersonal Communication (1 credit) Developing more effective personal
overall physical appearance. PREREQ: Nonecommunication skills to increase chances for professional success; increasing skills levels involving the use and selection of words, gestures, tone of voice, facial expressions, listening skills, as well as *On PFC's site, they list this course under 3 credits for the Business Degree, which is what I am majoring in.* My only options thus far are PFC or my local community college. The only problem with the CC is that alot of the courses I picked that might correspond to TESC's Managerial/Business Communications Requirement, all have Pre-req's. Worst case scenario I have some calls to make. I will just go talk to an advisor at the CC to see if there is anyway around the pre-req issue. And I will make sure to email TESC to see which of the 4 or 5 classes that I picked will satisfy that requirement. Then I'll call or email PFC to see what their costs & fees are to take individual courses. Whoever is cheaper is who I am going with. By the way...if anybody knows what the fees/tuition rates are for the following courses @ PFC, please let me know: * Business Communications - ICS-0041 (ACE#) *Managerial Accounting(ACC-112) - ICS-0048 (ACE#) *Financial Accounting(ACC-111) - ICS-0047 (ACE#) Just want to see if PFC will be cheaper than my CC. My CC charges $45 per credit hour. Then I have to add in books et cetera. I heard all PFC materials are included. Just trying to crunch some numbers. Any help, advice, suggestions I can get will be greatly appreciated. From a loyal degree seeker, Marshall

Well, its ACE approved.
ACE | National Guide Online - Business & Technical Writing (ENG 121) ICS-0197 #71566 TESC has a standing policy to accept all ACE approved courses, so sayeth their catalog. The question is if it will satisfy that specific requirment. Call your advisor on Monday and ask.

PFC will run about $200.00 a class W/Materials and you can knock them out quickly!
If they are ACE approved , have ace do a transcript and have them send it to TESC, should be 40.00 bucks for the transcript fess. and TESC will accept them. |

Marshall,
Were you able to determine if that course would fulfil the Communications requirement?

Hello everyone and thanks for the feedback.
Since I've changed my major from the BSBA to the BA in Communications, I have no need for the classes listed earlier. However I will still check to see if I can use the Business Communications course to fulfill one of my core requirements. Although I seriously doubt TESC will accept both DSST Technical Writing and Business Communications as core requirements since they are relatively the same course. {Epiphany} No I haven't checked with as of yet, I probably won't until September.
