The 3 credits for
DSST Personal Finance are counted toward "Applied Professional" and will fall under the "Additional Credit Component" for your degree. So this specific exam does not count towards a
concentration in finance, but it can still be used for the overall degree.
The 3 credits for
DSST Principles of Finance meet one of the Business Core Requirements for "Financial Management", so this exam
does count toward a concentration in finance.
According to the Excelsior Business Catalog, the
required subjects for a finance concentration are:
- 3 Upper level - Advanced Financial Management
- 3 Upper level - Financial Markets & Institutions (DSST Money & Banking)
- 3 Upper level - Security Analysis (or Portfolio Management)
- 3 Upper or lower level - subjects such as commercial banking management, international finance, management of financial institutions, real estate, risk and insurance and other related courses.
It appears that the upper level DSST Money & Banking exam is the only exam that will meet one of the above requirements. However, I am not positive, so you'll need to check into that yourself.
