In fact, I prefer them because the paperback is lighter to carry to work in my backpack. I picked up this book on ebay for $30. As long as it is the same edition of the required textbook, you should be fine. Just make sure it comes with the CD- I understand it is important for this course.

That's what I did too! Bought the international edition w/CD on ebay for 30 bucks and taking the class now.
